primary education using similar Malaysian national curriculum and syllabus to some 880 refugee children via the Rohingya Education Centres (RECs) and support primary education access at some 30 learning centres via the payment of teacher compensation to some 45 teachers at these learning centres;
secondary education using similar Malaysian national curriculum and syllabus to some 25 refugee children located in Penang;
safe space for refugees to obtain information on basic services, extension of protection services, as well as a platform to build, develop, support and strengthen community-based initiatives within the refugee population in Penang ; and
workshops to promote peaceful co-existence, work preparedness and women/ youth empowerment within the refugee communities.
JREC's vision is to equip all Rohingya Children in Malaysia with the essential knowledge and skills for their future.

REC Pulau Pinang commenced its operations in Permatang Pauh on 24th October 2010, catering to a total of 106 students aged between 6 and 14 years old.
On 25th December 2012, REC Klang was established and inaugurated by YBhg Dato' Dr. Siddiq Fadzil, the President of Wadah Pencerdasan Ummah (WADAH).
JREC was officially appointed as one of the operational partners for the UNHCR Education Sector.
REC Kuantan was inaugurated on 24th May 2015, with the esteemed presence of Tn Hj Haridan bin Ismail, the Advisor to Al-Bukhary Foundation, who officiated the event.
On 11th November 2018, REC Gombak was successfully opened, with the honorable presence of Datuk Ahmad Azam Ab Rahman, the Chairman of JREC, who officiated the opening ceremony.
On 2nd September 2019, REC Kuala Terengganu, the latest establishment, commenced operations and began accepting new registrations for Rohingya students.
Registration for REC Secondary Pulau Pinang was initially made available on April 11, 2023.
